This area is the small pocket north of West Passyunk Avenue, below Mifflin Street, and nestled between 18th Street and 25th Street.
Shadowed by the enormous development of its neighbor to the north, Point Breeze, this pocket of residential townhomes has been fairly steady in terms of home value and development. However, predictions of developers moving into this area in the near future have been floating around. Some have already attempted, but the area needs more to create a buzz.
Local residents are perfectly content with the area being undisturbed for the time being. The community is close knit overall and the West Passyunk Neighbors Association hosts terrific events and meetings monthly. The typical South Philadelphia townhomes abound, many with front porches that open up neighbors to socialize more frequently.
The appearance of more millennial-friendly restaurants and social venues (such as ARS Brewery & Chaat and Chai) on West Passyunk Avenue has started the conversation of what the area could be in the next 5+ years. Living up to East Passyunk’s vibrant and fully developed strip is a tall order, but definitely not out of reach.
