This Father’s Day, Connect with Philly: 6 Local Things to Do with Dad

      Post by Erica J. Minutella

It can be hard enough to find just the right present for dad on Father’s Day, but add moving to a new and unfamiliar city to the mix and planning something special can feel downright impossible.

So for the new homeowners out there, we rounded up some of our favorite local activities to make your Father’s Day in a new place feel like Father’s Day at home.

      For the Foodie Dads:

Dim sum rhymes with endless yum for a reason. Head over to Chinatown to treat dad to a never-ending variety of fluffy, flavorful dumplings, steamed buns, and more – all at a reasonable price. Dim Sum Garden and Ocean Harbor are two of our favorite spots.

      For the Sporty Dads:

If you can’t swing a round on the golf course, consider taking dad over to Franklin Square Park. The Philly-themed mini-golf course will pit your putting skills against dad-sized versions of Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and other local landmarks, giving you both a tour of the city in miniature.

      For the Rockin’ Dads:

Does dad have rock and roll regrets? You can make those unfulfilled music dreams come true with a lesson at Rawk U School of Music. Teach dad it’s never too late to learn to play lead.

      For the Fightin’ Dads:

If your dad’s a history buff, there’s no greater gift than letting him relive some of the nation’s most powerful moments. Stop by Penn’s Landing and take the Camden Ferry over to to the Battleship New Jersey. In service during World War II and the Korean and Vietnam Wars, this now-retired ship is open for tours on Sundays at 11 am.

      For the Nerdy Dads:

Dinosaurs. Bugs. Animal bones. The Academy of Natural Sciences has it all. Both dad and the kids can let out their inner explorers with several floors of exhibitions dedicated to natural history. The best part? It’s free admission for dads on Father’s Day weekend!

      For the Artsy Dads:

It’s a combination art fair, music festival, and beer garden, and it all takes place over one weekend. Bring dad to InLiquid’s Art for the Cash Poor 2017 from noon to 6 pm on Sunday to enjoy local bands, local artists, and local beers.
